Reserve A smart for two For $99

The recent spikes in gas prices have forced thousands of car buyers to look for fuel efficient vehicles. To address this demand for fuel misers, car manufacturers have been designing and producing fuel-efficient vehicles. The Mercedes Benz Group has manufactured a fuel efficient vehicle for that need. The DaimlerChrysler owned group manufactured their fuel efficient compact under the smart brand.

The brand, all in lower case to emphasize the small size of their vehicles, has introduced the smart fortwo to the public and the vehicle will come shortly in the United States auto market. The fortwo will hit showrooms in the United States by early 2008 but interested car buyers can avail of the vehicle reservation offered by smart USA.

To reserve a smart fortwo, interested consumers need to take simple steps as according to smart USA. According to the company, potential buyers need to visit their website where they can reserve a smart fortwo for $99. Consumers can choose among the three versions offered of the smart fortwo.

The base model of the fortwo is the “pure” which sells starting below $12,000. The next version of the fortwo is the “passion coupe”. The coupe edition of the fortwo will have a price tag starting at under $14,000. The third version of the smart fortwo is the “passion cabriolet” which starts selling with a price tag that states an amount under $17,000.

The stated prices do not include tax, license, registration, destination charges and all other options. They can complete the reservation by paying $99 via their online credit card. The interested parties will then receive an email with the official confirmation certificate.

Roger Penske, the Chairman of smart USA, has this to say about the vehicle reservation system: “We are encouraged by the overwhelming, positive response to smart. To date, our website has received more than 800,000 unique visitors, and over 46,000 people have registered on the website as smart ‘insiders’. The reservation system is a way for us to respond to consumer interest while we establish our dealership network.”

Meanwhile, Dave Schembri, the President of smart USA, has this to say about the smart fortwo: “The smart fortwo is coming to the United States at the right time. The smart fortwo is the answer to many urban issues facing our major cities today; it is economical, ecologically friendly, functional, and is simply a fun car to drive.”

The smart fortwo is an 8.8 feet long vehicle with incredible fuel efficiency. It has been proven to provide a real good gas mileage of more than 40 mpg. The small car - 5.1 feet tall and 5.1 feet wide - will be making its rounds in the United States as smart USA will be launching a road show where they will be letting consumers around the country grab the chance of driving the smart fortwo. The road show will visit 44 major cities later this year.

While the vehicle may not give sports car like performance like vehicles equipped with the K & N cold air intake system, these vehicles can surely save dollars for its owners on the pump.
